Isocrates, 436-338 B.C., Attic orator. The first edition of his Orations was printed in Milan in 1493.
William Battie, 1704-1776, English physician. The first edition of his edition of the Opera of Isocrates was published in 1749, and gave rise to considerable ridicule.
