Avertissement de l’éditeur, in which details of the first edition are given, Jefferson has written:
they were written by Jurieux a clergyman.
Pierre Jurieu, 1637-1713, French Protestant theologian and polemical writer. This work is included in his writings by biographers and bibliographers.
