Abel Boyer, 1667-1729, English miscellaneous writer. The Political State of Great Britain was a continuation of The History of the Reign of Queen Anne ; see the next entry. It is the first periodical publication which contained a parliamentary chronicle and an accurate report of parliamentary debates, and was written in the form of a monthly letter to a friend in Holland. The complete work is in 38 volumes, 1711-1729.
