François Pétis de la Croix, 1653-1713, French orientalist, the son of the author of the Histoire du Grand Genghizcan, made the translation which was
published posthumously and was later translated into English. The
Avertissement contains a list of twenty-one books translated or compiled by him.
Alexandre-Louis-Marie Pétis de la Croix, 1698-1751, the son of François fils, published this work, and dedicated it to the Abbé Bignon.
