Sir Thomas Egerton, Baron Ellesmere and Viscount Brackley, 1540?-1617, Lord Chancellor. This was his only published work and established the status in England of Scottish persons born after the accession of James I. Egerton founded the library at Bridgewater House, now in the Huntington Library, California.
