The first part of this treatise, a translation of
Sqvitinio della liberta Veneta
, Mirandola, 1612, has been attributed to Marcus Velserus (Welser), 1558-1614, and to Alfonso de la Cueva, Marquis de Dedmar,
1572-1655. The translation of both parts was by Abraham Nicolas Amelot de la Houssaye, 1634-1706. On its first appearance this work was condemned by the Senate of Venice to be burned.
