William Knox, 1732-1812, controversialist, was born in Ireland. For a time he was agent in Great Britain for Georgia and East Florida, but lost the appointment through his support of the Stamp Act. In the compilation of this pamphlet he was assisted by George Grenville, 1712-1770, English statesman.
