Oliver Evans, 1755-1819, inventor, a native of Delaware, was the first steam engine builder in the United States. He was in frequent correspondence with Jefferson concerning patents and other matters. The subscribers list at the end of this book includes the names of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
