A search for "Bradley’s Bot rei herbarium" did not yield any results. Nevertheless, there was a Richard Bradley (1688-1732) for whom there were five botanically related works in the LC Catalogue (e.g. Dictionarium botanicum 2vol.). It is also possible that TJ’s initially started to write "Bradley’s Bot," stopped in the middle of the word and wrote "Tournefort’s Institutiones . . ." over it. "Bradley’s Botanical dictionary . . ." was written interlinear four lines up on this page, sometime after 1783.]
. Linnaei Philosophia Botanica. 8 vo . [ed. Sowerby implies (see #1064ff. that this and the three following items were added to TJ’s library sometime after 1785. The last two have black ink additions to the publication information, indicating a post 1783 revision, but otherwise these have all the indications of a pre-1783 acquisition. Further these works do not appear in the 1789 List of books TJ purchased for his library. This set does appear in the list of books sent to JM in 1786 ( PTJ 8:462) which is then probably the set that Sowerby references in her notes for #1064. Thus, it is believed that TJ had this set of books by 1783.]
